This week (12th January) we here at Solid Steel pay our own tribute to James Brown, the godfather of Soul, a man who has influenced a whole generation of artists, DJ's and music lovers alike. DK drops a few gems from his massive back catalogue including King Heroin, Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose, Talkin Loud And Sayin Nothing and The Payback. There's also a left turn into some of the numerous tracks that have sampled the great man with Gangstarr, Nas and Brand Nubian getting the nod amongst others. At the top of the second hour Strictly Kev steps up with some neatly selected cover versions and spoken word in homage to Soul Brother No.1. Finally DK completes the show with some more truly great JB moments including the full length version of Funky Drummer and his awesome version of Sunny. RIP James Brown.
